Niilo's cabin is located next to our organic demonstration and market garden on Skåldö island in the Ekenäs archipelago about 100 km west of Helsinki. We grow a wide variety of vegetables, berries, fruits, annual and perennial flowers, and ornamental trees in the park-like garden.

We are situated about 500 m from the seashore in a landscape of forested hills, meadows, forest ponds, and small fields. This environment is ideal for outdoor activities year-round, including hiking, running, swimming, bicycling, fishing, gathering wild berries and mushrooms, and skiing in the winter. We will be happy to guide you around the garden, arrange hiking and bicycling trips, and, if you wish, you are always welcome to help us with our daily chores, including gardening and wood-chopping.

The small modest cabin has 4 beds: a bunk bed for two people in the main room, plus two separate beds in the other room. There is a cooking stove with oven, a refrigerator, and a shower and sauna. The toilet is an outhouse.

We do not allow smoking anywhere on the property.

In the slower months (September - April), the price includes one free dinner per visit in our home, which is located about 100 m from the cabin. We cook with produce from our garden and other organic and local products, including fish, eggs and moose and deer meat. We are also happy to provide vegetarian/vegan meals.

We rent bicycles for guests to use. We also own a horse which is stabled 4 km from the cabin. Riding is possible for experienced riders with advance notice.

Driving/bicycling directions: We are located 17 km from Ekenäs train/bus station. The address is Sommarövägen 76. From downtown Ekenäs, drive along Baggövägen 12 km south (ferry crossing about half way), then turn right (to the west) onto Skåldövägen, continue for 4 km, then turn right to Sommarövägen and continue about 1 km.

Open: Year-round; reservation preferably one week in advance.

Prices: 50 euros a night for the cabin. If you travel by bicycle, we will give your party a 5 euro discount off the first night. We can pick you up from the train/bus station for 5 euros.
